Cards Against Humanity’s About Page

The classic no-sell, sell.

Cards Against Humanity is a game. It is made of cards. You put the cards together to make jokes. It’s pretty stupid.

We made the first version to play at a New Year’s Eve party. People seemed to like it, so we put it up on Kickstarter in 2010. It made a lot of money. We couldn’t believe it.

Since then, we’ve done a lot of stupid things with the money, like send people literal bullshit, sell a car for $97, and dig a hole for no reason. We also donated a bunch of money to charity because we felt bad.

Anyway, that about does it. Here’s a collage of more dumb stuff we did. You can click the pictures!

You glance at your watch.

It’s 6:28. You’ve been at it since 3.
Your hot date is at 7. Crap. Running late. Sink shower it is.
Nowhere close to done editing…

“…at least all the ideas are laid out, so there’s that. Did I miss anything? I don’t think so? Ok, but how do I make it flow? I need to get the final draft to Stacey for design asap, team cutoff is at noon Thursday…”

You’ve spent dinner completely distracted. Your date just took off. You go home exhausted, plod to your desk, and crack open the laptop.

Or… it could go like this:

5:41 — you’re out of the shower and lip-syncing.
6:17 — dressed to the nines and zenned out.
7:03 — the sunset glints off your aviators as you smile hello.
8:36 — it actually feels like you’re hitting it off. Not just hot, funny to boot.
Next morning, 10:27 — polished draft ready in your inbox.
10:31 — Stacey messages back, “thanks, looks good!”

The difference?

You had Copygloss handle it yesterday afternoon.

Grade 1 on the Hemingway App.

True to brand, the copy spends most of its time not on the card game, but on other entertaining shenanigans.

The self-deprecating bits work in the same way that preemptively labeling objections works during a sale. With high enough trust, your response is “Yeah, but…” And now you can’t help but root for them a little.

“Yeah, it’s dumb, but that’s what makes it fun!”
